Really helpful health report

I got the DNA Health Kit a few weeks ago and just got my results. It was pretty easy to do the swab and send it back. The report they sent me, the Personalized Health Report, had some interesting stuff about my genetic predispositions. It wasn't too technical, which was good. Felt like I actually learned something new about myself.

Worth it with the discount

I was looking for a good deal on a DNA kit and saw SelfDecode had a 20% off offer on their DNA Health Kit, so I decided to try it. The price felt right with the discount. I got the Longevity Report, and it gave me a lot of practical tips. It felt like good value for what I paid, especially for a first-time buyer like me.

Consistent quality, reliable service

This is my third time using SelfDecode. I've previously done the DNA Health Kit and a couple of Wellness Reports. This time, I uploaded some lab tests for their Lab Test Analyzer. Like before, the process was smooth and the analysis was thorough. I really appreciate the consistency; the information is always presented clearly and the recommendations are actionable. It's why I keep coming back for more insights into my health.

Comprehensive reports and good support

I purchased the DNA Health Kit and also opted for the Personalized Diet Plan. Ordering was straightforward on the website. The kit arrived in about 5 days, which was reasonable. I had a question about one of the Lifestyle Recommendations in my report, so I used their online chat support, and they responded within an hour with a clear answer. The quality of the reports themselves, especially the Mood and Personality Report, was quite detailed and gave me specific areas to focus on. Uploading my raw data from another service was also easy. Overall, a solid experience from start to finish.

Is the lifetime plan actually worth it over the annual? Kinda pricey but if it's really 'lifetime'...

P Phil P. 4 weeks ago
I went with the annual first to test it out. If you're serious about using it for years, lifetime might pay off in the long run. Depends how much you'll keep diving into new reports I guess.

N Neil 3 weeks ago
Considered it myself. If you plan on sticking with it and updating your info regularly, the lifetime definitely makes sense financially compared to renewing every year.

Can I use my old 23andMe data instead of buying a new kit? Don't wanna spit in another tube if I don't have to lol.

C Colin 3 weeks ago
Yup, totally. I uploaded my raw data from AncestryDNA actually, worked fine. Saves you some cash too.

M Mike 3 weeks ago
They let you upload from 23andMe. That's what I did. Just make sure it's the raw data file, not just the reports.

wondering if they ship the DNA kits to Canada? or is it US only?

C Chris 1 month ago
afaik they do international shipping for the kits. You'd probably have to check their site to see if Canada is on the list though.

I'm in the UK and got mine, so I'd imagine Canada is fine. Shipping might take a bit longer though.

hey, was thinking about getting the DNA kit but curious how long it actually takes to get the results back? not trying to wait forever.

S Shane 4 weeks ago
Mine took about 4-5 weeks from when I mailed it in, pretty standard for these things I guess.

P Phil Lindqvist 3 weeks ago
Yeah, I think it's usually around a month or so. Got mine back pretty quick, maybe 3.5 weeks.

How's the accuracy compared to like, 23andMe? Is it actually legit or just another snake oil thing?

P Priya Osei 4 weeks ago
It's a different focus. 23andMe is more ancestry, SelfDecode is all about the health stuff. I find their reports way more detailed for health than 23andMe's.

E Elena V. 3 weeks ago
Definitely legit. The reports are super comprehensive and cite studies. Not just random guesses like some others out there.

got a promo code from a podcast, where do I actually put it in when I'm buying?

M Megan 1 month ago
It's at the very end of the checkout process, usually on the payment page. Look for a box that says 'promo code' or 'discount code'.

T Troy 1 month ago
Yeah, right before you confirm your order, there's a box for it. Can't miss it.

Can I stack multiple coupon codes? Got a few from different places.

B Beth 3 weeks ago
Nah, pretty sure it's just one code per order. Most places are like that unfortunately.

D Dana J. 3 weeks ago
Tried that, didn't work. Only one discount code applies at checkout.

What kind of lab tests can you even upload to their analyzer? Just basic blood work?

N Neil Whitfield 3 weeks ago
You can upload a bunch of stuff! Not just basic bloods. Like, I did my lipid panel, vitamin D, and a few hormone tests. It helps connect your DNA with your current health markers.

O Omar 3 weeks ago
Pretty broad, they take things like CBC, metabolic panels, thyroid hormones, inflammatory markers. Check their help section, they have a list.
